Sonobot 5: a versatile platform for underwater reconnaissance and research

The Sonobot unmanned surface drone is a system platform for reconnaissance and research missions on and under water. With maximum precision, it performs both bathymetric surveys and detailed sonar imagery. Sonobot is a lightweight, modular system that can be flexibly adapted to the needs of a particular application.

A precision solution for mapping, safety and search operations

A measurement system integrated into the autopilot and dedicated software enable highly efficient deployment of the Sonobot system.
The Sonobot is mainly used for 3D mapping, estimating water volumes and determining sediment supply and displacement. As an autonomous system, the vehicle can reveal changes in shipping routes over time. It can be used to detect objects posing a threat to the safety of people and infrastructure.
During search operations, objects and people can be located quickly: the vehicle enables targeted recovery work, reducing time and effort for rescue personnel and divers.

Real-time object recognition thanks to AI

Object recognition is a new advanced feature for EvoLogics' Sonobot: the AI-based system is an add-on module that operates directly onboard the vehicle and analyzes the raw output from the side scan sonar or video camera.
Objects of interest are detected and visually highlighted in the ground operator's control software, all live during the mission. A cloud-based ecosystem around the new OR system provides users with regular updates and new classes of detectable objects.
It also enables user data sets to be downloaded, so that the system can be trained for new object types on demand.
